Limited Play Time For A Few Weeks

Hey all. I've got a Japanese language ability exam (日本語能力試験二級) coming up in early December, and about now is the time I should put my studies into overdrive. I'll likely not be playing much other than the Sunday MC runs, and perhaps hitting Ony on Fridays.

Gambare! Do you guys ever do nihon related activites? I'm guessing a good amount of us here speak and could have fun at some matsuri's or something. I rarley practice anymore these days.

Ganbaru! Arigatou!

I guess we don't really do many "nihon related activities." I think it's really wierd when non-Japanese speak Japanese.

... yah, I really just said that...
:P

The level two test can include any number of up to 1,000 kanji. In other words, while we won't be tested on a full 1,000, we're supposed to know them all in order to get 100% on that portion of the test.

is shabu shabu a "nihon related" activity?

Tanoshinderu. And as for the gaijin speaking nihongo, I don't think it's odd but I did spend LOTS of time around foreners that speak Japanese, I just think it's wierd when they try to fake an accent. That just sound silly to me, I mean they can see you're not a native, why try to sound otherwise? It's also looks really weird to me to see blond werstern women wearing Kimonos. And then there's the Japanese models that actually succeed in trying to make their hair blond, that one looks creepy. Oh I could probably go on forever about our funny culture overlaps.

I kinda know what you mean about white folks in kimono, but maybe I'm not following you on the accent thing. Are you saying, "I hate it when people try to learn to pronounce the words correctly"? Maybe it's just because it's late, but that's how I'm reading it. :P

No not that, correct pronunciation is essential, I mean when they try to fake an accent of a Japanese male it would be like you trying to speak with a southern accent. You speak English fine and it is totally unnessacary when you are not from the south.
