Okay, so it was only 1 hour, 1 boss, 1 wipe, and a lot of fun.... here are some pics, see if you can figure out what the heck is going on ^.^
This was about 10 min after i got in, we saw this dude's fro.
More imporantly, WTF is going on w/ my screen!
I see Jesse, Jim, Bill, Lisa, Lorri, and all my other wonderful Friends....
My first 37+ group
*drums please*
Left big... current target is... MT1.. its my job to keep him alive, I was glad tatariuchi was there to help me, I had forgoten to make the healer chat visable, and missed the assignment.
Thanks Tat!
But with a little help from the Old farts in the balcony, and lots of help from Cakeeater (my aid w/ healing)
We kept him alive, even when we both had under 8% mana. Go spi/ Mana/time gear.
Weee~ btw, of the 2 mini's we didn't lose our tank ^.^ although, the other parties did a great job of picking up aggro and re tanking him.
I'm so glad i'm not in pick up raids anymore...
For those of you new to TOC.... MC is one of the tougher areas in the game... (MC = Molten Core, a 40 man raid area)
Anywho, night!

congrats on Molten Core! Did you get all the way to Rag? I'm familiar with MC but one of these day I'm gonna need a interface turoial, you had all kinds of group people up and toolbar everywhere, yikes! I'm guessing you were usind a addon program? Also what's with these "The Fabled" people? Is Top of Cool just a sub guild and then you join them for raids or something?
Way to go, Mar! I was warning him on his way in last night, for the first couple/few MC runs the most difficult thing to do is parse the enormous amount of chat/text. Gotta strip the instructions from the chatter, and be able to find the relavent info to your class through all of it. It's very very difficult, and I found I had to leave the engrish channel often to keep the background noise down. To simplify, we have an agreement that only officers and other folks explaining strats will talk in /ra. Everything else gets done in a chatter channel. If you are a healer, there's yet another channel for healing related strats. If you're a 'lock, there's yet another channel for 'lock strats. These two classes of players need to coordinate much more than other folks. For example, if I go OOM and I'm assigned to keeping a tank alive, I report it in the healer channel so someone else can jump in.
The larger the raid, the more specific your role becomes. As a healer, I'm often partnered with another healer to keep just one player alive for an entire boss fight. For some bosses, either Priests or Mage's will be assigned to debuff dispelling *only* and they'll never use a single heal.
The addon that shows everyone's health/mana/buffs is called CTRaid, and is absolutely necessary for these kinds of events.
very nice~ do warriors tend to have an easier time in raids?
Hmm... Warriors have to keep the mob under control. Depending on the boss, this can be either relatively easy (= still difficult) or damn near impossible. Shazz is notoriously difficult to control, and takes an enormous amount of cooperation from the rest of the raid. Many boss fights in MC involve boss minions. The minions are typically OT'd (off-tanked) so it's you, two healers, a huge baddy, and nobody else until the rest of the raid burns down the head honcho.
If there's only one guy to controll, and he does massive AoE damage, then warriors and other melee classes pretty much sit the fight out. The MT goes in, 4 healers working in 2 pairs of 2 keep him alive, ranged DPS brings the boss down, and all other players run around bandaging people. Boring, but it's the way it has to be done. =D
Oh yah, to my knowledge The Fabled has spawned Ragnaros once. I think we're supposed to try him again tonight. :)
hm, do the fables tend to only go with guildies or do they take outsiders with them? and if i do get in on mc raids should i go with thumbs or wolf?
Hey Thumbs. The short answer is no, they don't take outsiders because it severely complicates looting issues. That said, if you were ever to run MC I'd suggest you'd want to do it on your hunter. Warriors need to have a lot of FR (fire resist) gear to make an effective tank in MC. Also, there are usually more than enough tanks available, but when it comes to DPS more is always better. :)
Quick tip, Mar. When doing 20+ man raids, go into your interface options and turn off displaying the player rank and guild. It helps to clean the screen up a lot.
Casters can find the whispercast mod here: http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=463
Err... Whispercast is really only usefull in a raid. =D
