Lots happening in the world of Outland for Big Tat tonight. First, I hit exhaulted with Aldor. DING! Second, I got my mace crafted! [Hand of Eternity] Lastly, I was able to get the mace quite a bit cheaper than I expected. Thanks to Dojochicken who did the combine for 500g rather than the going rate of 800g.
This brings my +heal to 767. I'll get the +81 heal enchant thrown on it in a couple days for over +800 to heals. As Mar pointed out in earlier posts, this is still at the very low end for a raider, but that raw + heal rating cannot reflect the 8/8 EF set bonus that turns my big heal into a chain heal, which keeps players near the tank topped off. It will be a long long time before I stop wearing the EF set for healing.

It's low for a raiding set, but have you actually been on a raid in over a year?
Gratz on the nice weapon again, I hope you can get some gear better than ol' tier1 sometime soon though, I mean, all the cool kids are wearing level 70 gear. Maybe when the timing works out, one of these day we can all do heroics together or something.
Grats tat!
I haven't raided in a long while, true. But with my hours if I managed to find a party for instancing chances are I'm the sole healer. All the +healing I can get will help me get into harder content.
@Hidoi: I've got a ton of level 70 gear that I wear for my DPS set. No worries there. The reason I'm in no hurry to replace the EF gear is that it makes me a multi-target healer. Shammys make decent, arguably amoung the best, single target healers, but in a party with multiple hand-to-hand toons, keeping everyone at full health can get quite hairy at times. With the EF set chaining my big heals to those players near the tank, everyone stays nice and topped off. Also, that chain means I'm actually doing 22% more healing than is reflected in my +heal score with the added advantage that I'm not scrambling to switch targets constantly. This is not a benefit that I can get from any other gear at any level. To even come close I'd have to change up my talent build considerably, and possibly give up the ability to use 2h maces and axes.
I've been on the receiving end of those heals, and it definitely makes a huge difference. Especially when the boss is tossing out omnidirectional cleaves and fireballs, and the party leader is screaming at you to circle strafe around them.
The golden rule of boss fights: Time is Money. The chain heals keep guys like me topped up without costing a healer valuable seconds to switch targets.
Oh yeah, I forgot, shammies don't have a renew type of spell besides the totem, do they? Well It is a pretty good proc then, if only you could still get a nice proc with the level 70 dungeon sets, but their set bonuses are not very exciting :(
