Blizzard just released a ton of new information through a bunch of news websites, go to blizzard's main site to see where. In short, the expansion will make WoW everything I ever wanted it to be. If all of us get it, we can have a ton of fun together, and best of all we don't have to have all this Top of fabled monkey buisness, we'll have enough people to make our own raiding guild that will be able to handle most of the dungeons in the game!
Here's a summary of the things they said:
-All new dungeons will be 5-man, 10 man or 25 man at the very most. You will be able to do lower dungeons that you liked again at level 70, just select the hard difficulty and those bosses for level 63 dungeons will suddenly become a challenge for a 70 player, and drop level 70 loot!
-There will be caputurable cities and other cool world pvp junk, and honor will be like a currency, instead of grinding forever to get to a rank, there is no honor decay and you spend honor like money to get PvP items that are guaranteed to be as good as the top gear form dungeons.
-There will also be an arena sysetm, kinda like battle net is now, you make a team for 2vs2, 3vs3 or 5vs5, pick a team name and colors, then compeate with an intellegent match making system that pits your team against others even of the same faction in your cross server battlegroups. The match making will take into account gear, group makeup, and skill of opponents when making matchups.
There is more in those articles, but those are some of the biggies.

I hope so... running the same instances over and over just grates at me. I'm seriously considering allowing my account to expire until the expansion comes out.
Yeah pvp will be much more dynamic, and also you can do any of the instances in the expansion and get a good reward, rather than the 1-2 top ones, I like that, raid where you feel, not where loot dictates. Anyway it would be a pity to see you gone till then, but at least I know even if you do go, there will always be battleships.
I totally agree with you on the shammy/ hearthadin thing, but could you explain your thoughts on the other two points? I personaly don't see how these things could be bad.
The pally/shaman crossover makes good sense from a design standpoint, but it feels like a cop-out.
I suspect that capturable cities will just mean us being steamrolled by wave after wave of bored tier-2 geared Alliance. There are people out there willing to put in a vigil around the clock to maintain this sort of campaign. Remember the old TM/Southshore battles? It gets old, fast.
I've never liked farming instances over and over for drops. Again, it makes perfect sense from a game design standpoint - more "bang for your buck" when designing instances. The nightmare and hell levels in Diablo always felt gimmicky for me - gear up so you can fight harder monsters so you can gear up to fight harder monsters. Why not just add a bunch of zeroes to the end of every stat and get it over with? I guess it just goes against my PnP D&D roots to have to kill the dragon 30 or 40 times before the villagers like me.
I do like the pvp league idea. They should be able to hash the value of a player's equipment to figure out what tier(s) they could compete in. That stands a good chance of revitalizing pvp for me.
New small instances are pretty encouraging, too. Raids are boring and impersonal. I'd be pretty keen on the next 5 man after Dire Maul.
Anyway, I don't mean to sound elitist or anything, but I'm sure the other old-time MMORPG players can attest that expansion packs are pretty dangerous things. Lots of things which look great in the previews can change game mechanics in totally unpredicted ways.
I think you might have misunderstood the capturable town thing, there is only one capturable town, and it is an optional one in that zone, so all the other towns are not capturable, but you get a convienience if you do take that one. I agree on not wanting to do the same instance again and again, that's why I think the difficulty thnig is good in my view, instead of being limited to DM, U+LBRS, SCHOLO and STRAT, I could do any instance in the game at level 60 and not be wasting my time. It spreads out the fact that I'm doing the same stuff over again and makes it less monotonous is my feeling.
I guess the neat thing about the capturable village is that you can pretty much just jump in and out of the fight as you please - no queue, no getting stuck with a lousy pickup group, and if [Casual] shows up in force, [Forgotten Aspects] can always ride in to face them down. I miss world PvP between relatively matched opponents.
I did some world pvp the other day! A 60 mage wit a few bits of netherwind was beathing on the gaurds of stonard, so I rode out there and kicked his butt with a level 42 trailing along. Then I mounted up and headed to the blasted lands. There were 4 alliance sitting around at the mouth to the blasted lands, and I was still flagged. I never thought my epic mount would come in handy so quickley!
