Any blacksmiths around?
So I was about to pick up blacksmithing and was trying to decide weather to go for armorsmithing or weaponsmithing and thought I'd first see how many of each are already in the guild. Fill me in, thx.
Hmm, maybe I'll just farm mats and have you guys make me stuff then, no reason for me to spend 300+ mithril bars just to make something you guys can. Or maybe go for engineering and make wacky stuff.
Engineering's alright for the high end toys. Slightly more so if you are a caster. Goblin vs. Gnomish is generally a matter of tastes - they both seem to peak in effectiveness around level 45 anyway. The useful recipes you get after that are specialization agnostic.
I'd advise against going into any profession with the idea that you are going to get some specific item really cheaply (unless it's alchemy). Everyone loves to know a crafter, though...

i have a weaponsmith (270ish) on thumbreaker. i'm still working on learning to smelt dark iron.
