PlayOn data collection

Here's a PlayOn article on character gender in WoW. Ho, hum...

However, we get a peek at their data collection strategy. Turns out they have their own mod and it appears they have 'data collection characters' that roam about one or more servers.

For some reason, I just thought they had a deal with Blizzard and got their data directly from them... This means that data analysis of the quality/quantity PlayOn do is more imminently at hand than I had thought. I just have to get off my ass and write mod that will collect the data that I want.

Wait. What data do I want?

Witty! Very Witty!

You fool! The Hyjal server is far too remote for an effective demonstration.

I'd like to know what percentage of gnomes are real life midgets. Then, I'd like to know what percentage of those players are members of the lollipop guild.

...

Did I just stumble on the first truly witty guild name? Oh my.

There is a Lollipop guild on Hyjal. They play Alliance, though.

Do they only allow gnomes? That'd rock.

Heh. I know what I'll call the mod... "Bothans".

Although, it would only collect technical readouts.

To get the location of the rebel base, I'd need to make a "creapy-father-son-but you-didn't-know-that-yet-I'm-endangering-the-mission-force-thingy" mod.

The worst thing about programming that mod is you'd have to write the last half first, then write the first half much later. Poor Bothans, they always get screwed:
