ReRun of Uld and our guild priest.... I want feed back on this post

Uldaman needs its ass handed to it, and I need more group practice. Lets set a tentative date/time:
Tuesday at 7:30 meetings ->8pm run in.

Ok, now here is my issue, I suck at instances support atm. That is due to the fact that I am a Shadow priest. I could easily Re-Speck my skills, and spend a few more gold on support skills that i never picked up. But at this point in time, is not worth my time/energy/gold. What the problem comes down to is. If I re-spec as heal, my leveling curve will drop (soloing) meaning my level will not raise as fast as the rest of the (mid 40's pack). Well the counter argument was, well if we have a good instance support priest we would run more instances. /shrug

Over the next 6 levels I will increase some of my support skills in the talent tree if I do not change to heal-spec… I want to take a poll and see what you would think is best. If you want me to remain the same, please say so. If you think I should change to heal spec… I will need help leveling and hope that you could help. Any input is very helpful…

The alternative to me being heal spec’d and running instances is, having 2 healers… I don’t mind a talented druid helping ;)

For Uldaman, may I propose the following player lineup?
Thumbreaker
Ivers
Gunther
Maraco
Tsuno

As for your character, I'm glad you started this conversation. I know the lack of a healing priest has been frustrating for many of us.

> If I re-spec as heal, my leveling curve will drop (soloing)

As Scott pointed out this afternoon, a priest who can't find a party has either fallen asleep at the keyboard, or has a bad break-out of herpes. Ok, he didn't really say it quite that way, but I think you get the point. Just say "44 priest LFG" in general, and you'll make more friends than a $5 hooker on a Saturday night. Further, a shadow spec priest, while awesome at PvP, really doesn't have anything to offer an instancing group. There's not enough damage output to drop mobs faster, and not enough healing to keep people alive. I think you've already got the right idea when you talked about shadow spec'ing much later for PvP, but heal-spec'ing for now.

While Tsuno plans to play more over the summer, I don't think we can rely on her to be around all the time. Druids can make great secondary or primary healers, but I think we as a group need more practice before Tsuno will excell at either of these.

My last comment on this is, remember the golden rule of healing. Heal early, heal often. Waiting for someone's health to bottom out then hitting them with your biggest heal is just beggin' for a party wipe.

(Both Fumiko and I worked collectively on this post.)

hell yeah, spec yourself to help in instances... i mean screw solo'ing.

meanwhile, i've spec'd alk to be a badass solo champion (dinged 52 tonight). of course, i have every intention of respec'ing when i reach 60.

but you, no, you must spec to help the rest of us!

The point that Will fails to see is that the only reason anyone wants a warlock around is for soulstones and healthstones. Other than that they're pretty much a useless class.

(I'll take that flame bait, ギャビン, and raise it.)

Yes, 'locks are a misunderstood lot.

Hint: close support for tanks, crowd control and damage. dots + melee + firestone = average 145 dps... i have no idea if i calculated this right. immolate is 192 initial damage then 365 over 15 seconds. curse of agony is 750 over 30 seconds. corruption is 486 over 27 seconds. firestone adds 60-90 damage and my sword is 46-86 every 2.2 seconds. My profile. To compare, a random rogue on our server (level 52) does 115-158 damage and a random warrior does 186-247.

Oh yeah, we hand out stones, too.

Regarding how we can do things others can't, sure there are examples.

-Our soulstones give a re-pop when someone dies. Shaman can do this, I hear, but can an alliance class? I find priests and druids love to have me around for this purpose. Rez the healer if he goes down, and your party gets all kinds of extra staying power.

-Versatility. parties are often missing one or more roles. Depending on the pet conjured a warlock can take or do damage or buff hits for the party or be handy versus stealthy or magical opponents. Others can do this, but we have the flexibility to do whichever is the best for our group at that moment.

-Banishment is a fabulous spell. demons and elementals, while not everywhere, can be a real pain. Being able to knock one out of the combat for 20 seconds can be gold. Go visit Stromgard or Desolace if you don't believe that, for an example.

-Curse of recklessness can stop mobs from running. In a crowded place, that's a life-saver. I don't know if anyone else has something like that.

-Summon party members that get trapped at the beginning when returning to a long instance (Deadmines comes immediately to mind-all the patrols respawn).

-Use eye of kilrogg to search hostile areas for loot, like quest items. Other classes can see different sorts of mobs, but can they use a mobile eye to recon for items?

-We also have the ability to massively lower resistances, which is handy. Again, not sure if others do that as well.

> Warriors are a dime a dozen

That may have been true in other MMOs, I wouldn't know. But a good tank in WoW definately *is* hard to come by.
