Gavin, your idea does not suck (especially since you seem to be catering to me and my needs :-).
Anyway, sounds like a perfect time to create alts. I suggest creating them on Hyjal and as Horde for all the reasons you suggest (twinking, the ability to move existing chars to any new guild that might be created, etc). The only down side is that we've all played the Horde and for some of us, it may be fun to play new/different quests. On the other hand, humans stink, gnomes and dwarves are short and night elves are creepy. (Who would want to play those characters?)
BTW, I'm available most Saturday and Sundays.
